2006 Subaru Outback RepairThe main reason that I bought this used car is for carrying my tool box and construction materials for my rental buildings. I paid $1000 for this car.
With rear folding seat, I can transport a 40 gallon water heater tank, a bathtub, lumber wood and contruction debris.
I can also put 8'x4' plywood sheets on the roof rack.
Before buying the car, I knew that there were a lot of repairs to do, but there were more than I expected.
Just after buying the car, I did these repairs:
- Replacing head gasket
- Replacing timing belt, tensioner assembly, pulleys, camshaft seals, crankshaft seal and water pump
- Rebuilding calipers, replacing front and rear brakes
- Replacing front and rear wheel bearing, tie rods, ball joints, front and rear link kits
- Replacing steering rack seals
- transmission filter and oil change, front and rear differential oil change
Over about four years and half that I have the car, I did these repairs:
- Replacing front and rear shocks, front and rear suspension control arms
- Exhaust system (resonator and mufflers)
- Rear drive shaft , driver side front CV axle shaft
- Replacing rear part of brake line
- Replacing the harmonic balancer
In addition to using the car for my rental building, I also use it for going to work. It's very useful. It was about 218 000 Kms (135 450 miles) on the odometer at the the moment when I bought it. For the first four or five months, I didn't use much the car. It was in the drive way.
Because it needed to be repaired. It's now about 315 000 Kms (195 730 miles) on the odometer.
